About QsoLab
QsoLab is a portal for radio amateurs built around long-term, structured activity: marathons today, with journeys and challenges to follow.
The core idea
A QSO -- a logged radio contact -- is the base unit everything else builds on. Once it is in your log, it can be claimed by activities of different kinds, but only once per kind at a time.
| Activity type | Reuse of the same QSO |
|---|---|
| Marathon | One marathon at a time |
| Journey | One journey at a time |
| Challenge | One challenge at a time |
A single contact can count toward a marathon, a journey and a challenge at the same time, but never toward two marathons at once, or two journeys, or two challenges.
Activities
Marathons run for months, in weekly rounds: every calendar week you pick your best QSO from that week and submit it for scoring. Scoring rewards a new DXCC entity, distance, band and mode -- see Marathon Rules for the exact formula, and Rating Rules for how marathon results feed into the global rating.
Journeys and Challenges are still in development. They will get their own pages here once they launch.
Who it's for
QsoLab is built for operators who care about strategy as much as airtime: planning which DXCC to take and when, tracking progress against a clear scoring formula, and comparing results with other participants on a level, auditable footing.
